Andrew bought a half bottle of Buckfast Tonic Wine today, for us to sip this evening while watching The Buckfast Code on BBC1. I haven’t tried it before, so this is a new experience. I’ll report back if violence or criminal behaviour occurs.

I started reading “The Bad Beginning” to Beth yesterday, the first volume in Lemony Snicket’s tridecalogy “A Series of Unfortunate Events”. She is rather enjoying it. I think I might be reading these books to her all year. There is a long way to go.

Update on the Buckfast Wine: very sweet, with a pleasant medicinal taste. Quite sippable, like a liqueur. I can’t imagine getting through a whole bottle in an evening, though — far too sweet for me. (The only thing I can really enjoy that is that sweet is condensed milk.) Kate liked the taste, and Andrew was reasonably impressed, but worried about the caffeine content. He thought it might make a better breakfast drink, so the caffeine wouldn’t disturb his evening sleep.
