The BBC this morning has a news story about the royal wedding cake. But more interesting than the details of the traditional wedding cake is the news that there will be a second wedding cake, a “family childhood favourite of the prince’s”, an unbaked chocolate biscuit cake made to a secret royal family recipe.

Royal-warrant holder McVitie’s will be making it; they say it contains dark chocolate and crushed Rich Tea biscuits, so I assume that it will be a kind of tiffin.

I like the idea that the royal family have secret recipes, and that royal warrant holders create bespoke products for them.

Now I must buy some Rich Tea biscuits and some chocolate…
