The only kitchen appliance that we ever consider getting a contract for is the washing machine, since in our experience they break down (and expensively) far more often than anything else.

Though we don't have a breakdown contract for our current washing machine, and it has done pretty well since we bought it new in 2004. We only had to get a repair man out once, and the repair was low-cost.
