The Wall
This time last week I was watching Roger Waters perform The Wall at the MEN Arena in Manchester. A spectacular concert, it was a wonderful experience. The music, the stage show, the projections, the inflatables — all were stunning. We were in the middle of the floor, in the fourth row from the front, which meant we had a great view, but keeping an eye on everything happening on stage was rather like watching tennis. And when the wall came down, it felt like it was collapsing on top of us.

And the view looking back into the arena:

Manchester, on the other hand, was an armpit of a place. An ugly inelegant city, I’ll be glad not to return.
