Milk

A man from McQueen’s Dairies knocked vigorously on our door this morning. He told me that they are starting milk deliveries on Tuesdays and Fridays ‘in our area’. At £1.93 for a two litre bottle, it isn’t much more than supermarket prices, so I’ve signed up. He claimed that the milk will be delivered before 7am on the days in question.

I like the idea of buying from a local supplier. I hope it will actually be local milk.

I have happy memories of milk deliveries as a child. And, latterly, being amused by the occassional missing bottle, taken by hte nightshift from the factory up the road. Or the occassional lid pecked out by wee birds for the cream.

Ah yes, pecked out silver lids, that takes me back.
