Transport priorities

There are many competing demands for spending on transport. Duallling the A9 is being debated at Holyrood again, the Edinburgh tram project has had well-known difficulties, and there have been suggestions that should the Leuchars airbase close, it could be reborn as a commercial airport. But what should the government spend our money on?

I'd like to see Edinburgh Airport linked up to the rail network. That's my priority. As a Borderer I'm also somewhat in favour of the (happening) Waverley line reopening, although not taking it to Hawick is short-sighted, and risks leaving that area in decline.

Reopening the St Andrews-Leuchars rail link has never struck me as a good idea, however loudly StARLink promote the idea. It's not as essential as reopening a rail link to an area 50 miles away from a station. St Andrews-Leuchars is hardly any distance by bus/taxi.

Out of your options though I'll select the pot-holes. And, of course, we have a new batch of them after the severe snow :)

I think the edinburgh tram thing needs finished to a sensible state. But the people managing it need it taken off them. But I want something to show for all the fucking roadworks!

a sensible public transport to St Andrews like a connection to the Fife circle for example would certainly be a good idea
