Cycling in St Andrews

Driving through St Andrews yesterday evening, I was at the bottom of Church Street, about to turn left on to South Street, when a cyclist came up the wrong side of South Street and rode the wrong way up Church Street (which is one way). Needless to say, he looked like a student.

When I was an undergraduate, there was a divine in Hepburn Hall who got done for cycling the wrong way through the West Port, so justice is occasionally done.

Once in 29 years.

I used to cycle a lot in St Andrews 1990-1994. Always legally, with lights on, and helmet. But I used to boggle at others, especially the many students cycling without lights. I'm honestly surprised there aren't more accidents.
