Heinz Tomato Ketchup: Balsamic Vinegar, Basil & Oregano
I got home from my week away to find that
qidane had fed my passion for Heinz Ketchup by buying me a jar of the new “Heinz Tomato Ketchup with Balsamic Vinegar, Basil & Oregano Extracts”. Unusually for a ketchup, it is presented in a salsa-style jar, rather than a bottle. I have to approve that their premium ketchup is served in glass; it looks much nicer than the grotty-looking plastic bottles that most of the Heinz sauces come in.

With that flavour mix, it isn’t a breakfast ketchup. I’ll pop out shopping later today to pick up something suitable to try it with. I wonder if it will be a keeper, or whether it will be a one-off novelty like the balsamic ketchup and the curry ketchup that Heinz launched as limited editions in the last couple of years.
Ingredients: Tomatoes (207g per 100g Ketchup), Sugar, Balsamic Vinegar (8%, Wine Vinegar, Grape Must), Spirit Vinegar, Salt, Molasses, Parsley, Garlic, Spice, Basil Extract, Oregano Extract
For comparison, ingredients for regular Heinz Tomato Ketchup: Tomatoes (132g per 100g Ketchup), Spirit Vinegar, Sugar, Salt, Spice & Herb Extracts (contain Celery), Spice
