I’ll be working out of my employer’s London office for the week from Monday 3 to Friday 7 December. While I’m busy on the Friday night, the rest of my evenings in Shoreditch are free; would anyone like to meet me for dinner somewhere nearby?

Sadly the slightly potty vegan restaurant called Saf, which was just along from the company flat on Curtain Road, appears to have closed. They specialised in vegan nut cheeses, and raw food. Had a fine meal there a couple of years ago.

I’ll be in London for a few days next week — travelling down on Sunday evening, back home on Wednesday afternoon. While I’ll be spending the days out in Colindale, I’ll be staying in the company flat in the city, not far from Old Street tube station.

Would anyone like to join me for dinner on Monday or Tuesday evening (28 Feb / 1 Mar), somewhere relatively central?

After a busy day in the office, I had dinner out with colleagues at Beiderbeckes Bistro in Dundee. I had a rather pleasant dish described as stir-fried vegetables on a bed of pakoras, in a pepper sauce. The company was good too, and I drank lots of ginger beer.

I noticed in today’s Daily Politics that Andrew Neil has discovered a genuine use for a vuvuzela — interrupting politicians when they give evasive answers.

Beth had a school trip to Edinburgh today. She was very excited; they went to Butterfly World and the Museum of Childhood.

I had a root around on Spotify, and spent my driving today listening to Pete Townshend’s 1980 solo album Empty Glass. Very enjoyable. I’m quite taken by the piano in the song And I Moved.

Andrew occasionally works from home, and when he does we sometimes dine with him, as opposed to the usual weekday practice of him joining us for dinner. Tonight was such an occasion. With the warm weather, his windows wide open, and 80s metal blasting from the stereo, he commented that it felt like a proper summer evening.

A few weeks ago Andrew and I tried to take Beth to the playpark at the Allanhill strawberry farm, just up Grange Road. Unfortunately it wasn’t open. But now the season has begun, and Kate and Beth went and had a play after school, and bought strawbs for pud. Mmm.

I’ll be working out of the London office for a few days, from Thursday 6 to Monday 10 August.

kateaw and Beth will be staying with Kate’s parents over this time, and I’ll be spending the weekend with them in Kent.

Would anyone like to join me for dinner in London on the evening of Friday 7 August? Is there somewhere decent to eat within walking distance of Victoria? I never fancy a tube journey after a big dinner, but a brisk walk to the station could be pleasant.
