Andrew got back from Eastercon this morning. Kate got back from Kent this afternoon. So now I’m watching TV with company, which is a lot more fun than sitting by myself. I made a Quorn-mince lasagne for tea, with some garlic bread. I think Andrew appreciated some home-cooked food after days of hotel food, and Kate paid me the compliment of saying it was like the ones she cooks. Mind you, they did comment that my garlic bread was quite unlike normal garlic bread.

I haven’t posted much over the past fortnight because I’ve been suffering with a nasty cold, and I haven't had enthusiasm for writing anything. It has been enough of a struggle to do some productive work. Anyway, now I’m feeling much better. Maybe my constitution was kick-started by the chocolate and the hot cross buns that Mary and I consumed at the weekend.

We didn’t get through all the hot cross buns at the weekend, so the leftovers are in the freezer. Maybe Kate will eat some for breakfast.

It is still odd being without Beth. She is due back on Friday, together with my parents who will be here for the weekend. I’m looking forward to rewatching Saturday’s Dr Who when Beth gets back — however enjoyable it was, it will be so much better when watched with an excitable child.

I intended that Beth and I would make hot cross buns today, while Kate was off visiting Andrea in Edinburgh. Unfortunately Kate’s cold got the better of her, so she has remained at home for the weekend.

When I started assembling ingredients I found that we’d run out of eggs, so I’ve put the hot cross buns off until tomorrow, giving us a a chance to do some shopping. As I’d started getting baking things out, Beth and I made a bread dough, and we’re currently waiting for it to rise.
