Quorn “bacon”

kateaw is out of the house on Thursday mornings, so echodarkly and I take the opportunity to have veggie bacon for breakfast. Kate is not fond of the smell of it cooking.

Haven't tried veggie bacon for years.

We used to get it in as part of the veggie alternatives for breakfast at weekend events for the Far-Isles.

But none fo the vegetarians would touch it (because it's too meat-like, apparently) so we carnivores used to polish it off - so long as it was freshly cooked (if it was left to get even slightly cold you ended up with a platter full of something resembling leather insoles).

You FIEND! Now I'm in the mood for a bacon roll!!

We're out of bacon and Greggs stops doing them at 11am, so I can't even be decadent and order one for delivery... {sad face}

I’m pretty sure you could order one for delivery. Get onto Deliveroo, and I’m sure your local supermarket can supply you with bacon within 20 mins or so. Mind you, there is a minimum order of £15 which I assume would be quite a lot of bacon.

Everything pictured above came from our two Deliveroo orders at the weekend, one from Aldi and one from Morrisons.

I feel rather sorry for Deliveroo this week, after their half-arsed IPO, so maybe an order and a kind word to the delivery-student-cyclist would be good.

Went with the cheaper and easier optuion of ordering from a different cafe.

Besides, we're doing the weekly supermarket run tonight anyway (since tomorrow is a Bank Holiday), so I could pick up more bacon then, except next week isn't a bacon week (we'd eat it all the time if we didn't restrict it to certain weeks), so ordering a delivery of 15 quids worth of bacon (or less, as I'd also need ot order rolls) isn't goign to work.

I haven’t been in a shop in over a year. We’ve grown to rely on various grocery deliveries. Which really make life easier, expect that I miss browsing for new and interesting food. And being able to take advantage of aisle-end specials, or yellow-label bargains.
